Welcome Heroes
Over the coming months, I'll be sharing stories about the life and times of a genuine, All American Hero - who became a legend. Joe Austin aka: American Joe. Not until his diary was uncovered at the dawn of the millennium did we know the real story – right from the hero who lived it. Courage. Guts. Pride. That’s how the story of American Joe plays out, a true All American Hero whose legend still lives a bit in all of us. He was an adventurer, a soldier, an educator, and a well traveled and rugged American soul whose story is so big that of course it just had to start in Texas. While Joe’s amazing and inspirational story ended on Memorial Day, 1999, the legend carries on for the hero in all of us. True to Joe, follow your own path and your own passion. Be a hero to those around you. Be an American Joe. We try to keep Joe's legend alive by our actions and deeds, and display our pride, guts and courage through our 100 percent All American Made clothing line.
We are looking for inspirational stories of everyday heroes who have worked to make a difference in their community, school, country or just in someone's life.
The Saga Begins...
Joe was born on the Fourth of July in 1899 on a small cattle ranch in the heart of the Lone Star State, born of meager means and into a family with bigger dreams than fortune – a hard working family – the eldest son of John and Mary Austin. He toiled on the farm as an eldest is expected, working the fields, herding the livestock, helping the family earn an honest, but admittedly small existence. The clever, sometimes impetuous young boy had an adventurous streak that burned inside of him, a streak that would one day make him legend, sparked when he happened upon a shimmering object lodged in the hot, parched Texas soil.
